Frequently Asked Questions

What Can You Make With the Fraction Worksheet Generator?

Printable worksheets of nine fractions on circles and bars cut into equal parts, to name the shaded fraction or to color the fraction, with halves, thirds and quarters, up to sixths, or up to tenths. Every worksheet also has its answer key.

Why Practice Fractions With Shapes?

A fraction names a part of a whole: the bottom number, the denominator, tells how many equal parts the whole is cut into, and the top number, the numerator, how many of those parts we take. Circles cut like a pie and bars cut into boxes make fractions easy to see. Naming the shaded fraction practices counting the parts, and coloring a fraction practices showing it. The worksheets start with halves, thirds and quarters, then move on to fifths and sixths, and up to tenths.

How Does the Fraction Worksheet Generator Work?
  1. Choose the settings. Pick the task, name the shaded fraction or color the fraction, and the parts: halves, thirds and quarters, up to sixths, or up to tenths.
  2. Make a new worksheet. Press New: a new worksheet appears at once, with the same settings. Each one comes from a random number, its seed, kept in the address of the page.
  3. Print it. Press Print to print the page on A4 paper, or choose “Save as PDF” in the print window to keep it.
  4. Get the answer key. Tick Show the solution: the same worksheet appears with its solution in orange, ready to print as the answer key.
  5. Share it. Copy the address of the page: it always gives the same worksheet back.

Every worksheet has nine different fractions, each smaller than 1, on a circle or a bar cut into equal parts. To name a fraction, write how many parts are shaded over how many parts there are; to color one, color as many parts as the top number.
