Free Printable Math Worksheets
Free printable math worksheets for kids, at school or at home: counting with shapes, addition, subtraction and multiplication, both in columns and as mental math, times tables, long division with and without remainders, fractions, number lines, rounding, comparing numbers and telling time on analog clocks, plus magic squares and number pyramids for practice that feels like a puzzle.
Each skill climbs one level at a time, from counting to 5, one-digit sums, halves or quarter hours up to four-digit numbers, tenths or the exact minute. Each worksheet prints from a PDF, and each skill has a workbook that gathers its sheets in one file.

About the math worksheets
How the math worksheets work
Each worksheet is a single page of exercises on one skill, printed in black on white. The child answers on the sheet itself, with a pencil, and the kind of answer depends on the skill:
- Write a number: how many shapes of one kind sit on a shelf, the result of a calculation, a missing number on a number line, the time a clock shows, a fraction, a rounded number, an empty cell of a magic square or a brick of a number pyramid.
- Write a sign: <, > or = in the box between two numbers, two calculations or two fractions.
- Draw or color: as many shapes as a number asks for, the hands of a clock, or the parts of a shape that make up a fraction.
- Circle: on a rounding worksheet, the end of the little number line closest to the number.
All these printable math worksheets are free, and when a level has several sheets, each draws its own problems at random, so a child can work through that level more than once.
Math skills on the worksheets
- Counting shapes: two to six frames on a sheet, each with a shelf line carrying circles, squares, triangles, stars or hearts; the child counts the shapes of one kind and writes how many, or reads a number and draws that many shapes above an empty shelf.
- Addition: twenty additions on a sheet, set out in columns to be worked digit by digit, or written in a row, such as 23 + 45 = ___, for mental math.
- Subtraction: twenty subtractions per sheet, with the same two layouts as the additions.
- Multiplication: times tables written in a row, twenty facts on a sheet, and longer multiplications in columns, twenty on a sheet, or sixteen once the bottom number reaches two or three digits, since each one needs more room. The page opens with a multiplication chart from 1 to 12.
- Division: division facts written in a row, twenty on a sheet, and long divisions, nine on a sheet, or six with a four-digit dividend, each with room for every step. A long division is set out the French way, the quotient under the divisor, or as US long division, the quotient above the dividend.
- Fractions: nine shapes cut into equal parts, discs, bars or grids; the child names the shaded fraction, or colors the fraction written under the shape. Other sheets set eight pairs of shaded shapes side by side, to be compared.
- Number lines: eight lines of eleven evenly spaced numbers, where four numbers are missing and an empty box takes their place.
- Comparing numbers: twenty pairs of numbers, or of calculations such as 3 + 4 and 10 ÷ 2, each pair with an empty box between its two sides; calculations with three- or four-digit numbers fill one column of ten pairs. On every sheet, as many pairs need < as need >, and one pair in five is equal.
- Rounding: twelve numbers, each shown by an arrow on a short number line between the tens, hundreds or thousands on either side, its middle mark longer to show the halfway point. Other sheets drop the lines and list twenty numbers, each with a box for its rounded value.
- Telling time: nine analog clocks, or six or four larger ones, round or square; the child draws the hands for the time written below, or writes the time the hands show.
- Magic squares: a sheet holds six squares of 3x3 or four of 4x4, each with a few empty cells, and every row, column and diagonal must reach the same total. One full line is always printed, and the empty cells can be found one after another.
- Number pyramids: six pyramids per sheet, in which every brick equals the two bricks it rests on, added together, or multiplied on some sheets.
Math worksheet levels
- Counting shapes: numbers up to 5, then up to 10, then up to 20; the shapes stand in rows before they lie in a heap, some sheets slip in shapes of other kinds, and the drawing sheets come after the counting ones.
- Addition: one-digit numbers, such as 3 + 4, then numbers of two, three and four digits; some sheets mix additions with and without carrying, others have carrying in every addition or in none.
- Subtraction: one-digit numbers first; then, at two, three and four digits, subtractions without borrowing, followed by subtractions with it.
- Multiplication: a single times table per sheet, from the 2s to the 12s, then the 2s to 10s mixed together; then column multiplications, from 2-digit by 1-digit up to 4-digit by 3-digit.
- Division: facts first, where both the divisor and the answer go from 2 to 10; then long division of numbers with two, three or four digits, always by a single digit from 2 to 9, first dividing exactly, then leaving a remainder.
- Fractions: halves, thirds and quarters first; then denominators as large as 6, and last as large as 10; no fraction reaches 1.
- Number lines: steps of one, within 20 and then within 100; steps of two, three, four or five within 100, and steps of ten as far as 990; negative numbers too, on lines placed between −10 and 10 or between −20 and 20; decimal steps of 0.1 as far as 10 and of 0.5 as far as 20.
- Comparing numbers: within 10, then within 20, then from 10 to 99, from 100 to 999 and from 1,000 to 9,999. On the sheets of numbers, from two digits on, about half of the unequal pairs differ in a single digit, never the first, so the child has to read each number up to that digit.
- Rounding: to tens, with numbers from 10 to 99 and then from 100 to 999; to hundreds, with numbers from 100 to 999; to thousands, with numbers from 1,000 to 8,999. No number is already round.
- Telling time: hours and quarter hours, then times to five minutes, then to the minute; then 24-hour times such as 15:40 or 00:25, to five minutes or to the minute, and last any time of day, from 00:00 to 23:59.
- Magic squares: 3x3 squares that use every number from 1 to 9 exactly once, then squares whose numbers go as high as 30, then 100; 4x4 squares that use 1 to 16 exactly once, then numbers as high as 100. Some sheets add the magic sum under each square as a hint.
- Number pyramids: three, four or five rows of bricks. Either the whole bottom row is printed and the child adds, or multiplies, going up; or scattered bricks are printed, as many as the pyramid has rows, and the child also needs subtraction, or division.
Math terms explained
- Carrying: when a column totals 10 or more, its ones digit is written below the line and its tens digit goes on top of the next column to the left.
- Borrowing, also called regrouping: if a top digit is too small to subtract the one beneath it, the column takes one ten from its left neighbor.
- Dividend, divisor and quotient: in 56 ÷ 8 = 7, 56 is the dividend, 8 the divisor and 7 the quotient.
- Remainder: what is left over when the divisor does not go exactly into the dividend; 17 ÷ 5 gives 3, remainder 2.
- Numerator and denominator: in the fraction 3/4, the denominator 4 is the number of equal parts, and the numerator 3 the number of parts taken.
- Comparison signs: < reads less than and > greater than, the wide side of the sign facing the bigger number; = means both sides are equal.
- Rounding: swapping a number for the closest ten, hundred or thousand; when it sits exactly in the middle, it goes up, so 45 becomes 50.
- Magic sum: the total shared by every row, column and diagonal of a magic square, 15 when the numbers run from 1 to 9.
Printing the free math worksheets
- Each skill has its own page, and its first sheets are the easiest.
- Each worksheet can be saved in PDF, SVG or WebP, on an A4 page.
- Every skill also has a workbook: one PDF with all the sheets of its page, to print in a single run.
- The sheets come without answers. The generator of each skill draws new worksheets at any level, with their answer key when Show the solution is ticked.
