What Can You Make With the Comparing Numbers Worksheet Generator?

Printable worksheets of twenty pairs of numbers to compare with less than, greater than or equal to, with numbers up to 10, up to 20, or with two, three or four digits, and the box for each sign as a circle, a rounded square or a rounded rectangle. Every worksheet also has its answer key, with the signs.

Why Practice Comparing Numbers?

Comparing two numbers means finding which one is greater, or whether they are equal. A number with more digits is greater; between two numbers with as many digits, you read the digits from left to right, and the first digit that differs decides. You write the sign between the numbers: < means less than, > means greater than, and = means equal to. The open side of < and > always faces the greater number. Comparing numbers builds place value: what each digit is worth in a number.

Every worksheet has twenty different pairs of numbers: in eight, the first number is less than the second, in eight it is greater, and in four they are equal. With two digits or more, half of the pairs that differ change only one digit, after the first one, so every digit counts.
