Frequently Asked Questions
What Can You Make With the Sudoku Generator?
Printable sudoku puzzles in three sizes: 4x4 grids with the digits 1 to 4, 6x6 grids with 1 to 6, and 9x9 grids with 1 to 9. Each size comes in 4 levels, from Easy to Very Hard, with one grid per page or four of the same size and level. Every puzzle has exactly one solution, and its answer key shows it.
What Is the Goal of Sudoku?
The goal of sudoku is to fill every empty cell so that each row, each column and each box holds every digit exactly once: 1 to 4 in a 4x4 grid, 1 to 6 in a 6x6 grid, and 1 to 9 in a 9x9 grid. Sudoku needs no math: the digits are only symbols, and each one can be found by logic, without guessing. Solving a grid trains logical thinking, concentration and patience. The 4x4 grids are a gentle start for beginners, and the 9x9 grids, from easy to very hard, keep kids and adults busy.
How Does the Sudoku Generator Work?
- Choose the settings. Pick the size of the grid (4x4, 6x6 or 9x9), its level, from Easy to Very Hard, and one or four grids per page.
- Make a new puzzle. Press New: a new puzzle appears at once, with the same settings. Each one comes from a random number, its seed, kept in the address of the page.
- Print it. Press Print to print the page on A4 paper, or choose “Save as PDF” in the print window to keep it.
- Get the answer key. Tick Show the solution: the same puzzle appears with its solution in orange, ready to print as the answer key.
- Share it. Copy the address of the page: it always gives the same puzzle back.
Every sudoku has exactly one solution, checked by the generator. The level sets how many digits are given; on a 9x9 grid, it also sets the hardest step needed to solve it: easy and medium grids need only forced digits, hard grids locked candidates, and very hard grids pairs and triples. The page is made in your browser: nothing is sent to Zuzuzi, and it is free, with no sign-up.
