Addition Worksheet Generator

Printable worksheets of twenty additions written in columns, with two-digit, three-digit or four-digit numbers. Every worksheet also has its answer key, with the carries and the sums.

Column addition is the written method taught at school to add larger numbers: the digits are lined up by place value, ones under ones and tens under tens, and the columns are added from right to left. When a column adds up to 10 or more, the tens are carried to the next column. Regular practice with two-, three- and four-digit numbers builds place value sense, accuracy and speed, and prepares for column subtraction and multiplication.

1. Choose the settings. Pick the size of the numbers: two, three or four digits.
2. Make a new worksheet. Press New: a new worksheet appears at once, with the same settings. Each one comes from a random number, its seed, kept in the address of the page.
3. Print it. Press Print to print the page on A4 paper, or choose “Save as PDF” in the print window to keep it.
4. Get the answer key. Tick Show the solution: the same worksheet appears with its solution in orange, ready to print as the answer key.
5. Share it. Copy the address of the page: it always gives the same worksheet back.
