Read and Draw: Shapes to 5

Here the shelf starts empty. Under it, a number and a small shape tell the child what to draw: three hearts, five circles, one star. Drawing the right amount turns a written number back into a quantity.

Sheets with two, four or six exercises leave more or less room above each shelf, from large frames for little hands to compact ones.

From Number to Quantity

Reading 4 and drawing four squares checks that the child knows what the digit stands for. Simple outlines are enough: a square does not need straight sides to count.

Plenty of Room to Draw

The two-exercise sheets give each drawing a large frame, ideal for crayons and young children. Four and six exercises per page suit pencils and steadier hands.

Five Simple Shapes

Circles, squares, triangles, stars and hearts are easy to tell apart and pleasant to draw. Each exercise names one of them, and they change from one exercise to the next.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the drawing have to be neat?

No. What matters is the number of shapes: a wobbly star still counts as one star.

Is there an answer key?

Not on these sheets. The Counting Shapes generator can add an answer key that draws the expected shapes in dotted outline above each shelf.
