Counting Up to Five
Small numbers can be seen at a glance, and children often recognize three or four objects without counting them one by one. These sheets encourage touching each shape with a finger while saying the numbers, so that the last number said becomes the answer written in the box.
Rows First, Then a Heap
Shapes in a row are the easiest: the eye moves from left to right. In a heap, shapes lean at different angles, and the child must remember which ones are already counted. Start with the rows and move to the heaps once the rows go smoothly.
Finding the Right Shape
On the mixed sheets, the shape under the shelf says which kind to count among a few others. It is a first exercise in sorting as well as in counting.
