How to Solve a 5x5 Star Battle
Start with the smallest region: when its three cells lie in one row, the row’s star must be inside it, and the rest of that row can be crossed out. Then mark, around each certain star, the eight cells that touch it. On a 5x5 grid, each new star leaves the other regions fewer cells, until each has a single one.
Three Levels on Five Stars
At Easy, single regions and lines are enough. Medium grids hide their first star behind two regions that share the same two rows. Hard grids sometimes need a star assumed, followed, and dropped when a region is left empty.
A First Logic Puzzle Without Numbers
Star battle needs no arithmetic at all, which makes it a good first logic puzzle for children who can follow rules, and a light daily puzzle for adults. Mark empty cells with a small dot and stars with a clear star.
