How to Solve a 7x7 Futoshiki
Work the edges of the scale first: in each row and column, list the cells that can still hold a 7 and a 1, which the signs forbid on the pointed side and the open side respectively; with seven digits, a cell at the top of a chain of two signs is already at least 3, and at the top of a chain of three signs at least 4. Write candidates in every cell, then alternate between the two rules: a placed digit leaves its row and column, and a sign trims the candidates on both sides. Look for the cell that is left with one candidate, or the row where a digit has one place left, and keep going; a 7x7 grid rarely needs more than this, only patience.
