He served from 1993 to 2001 and focused on economic growth, healthcare reform, and education. In popular culture, 42 is famously known as the “answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything” from the science fiction book The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. In science, 42 is the atomic number of molybdenum, a metal used in steel production and spacecraft parts. In American baseball, number 42 was worn by Jackie Robinson, the first African American player in Major League Baseball. His number was retired across all teams in his honor.
