6x6 Calcudoku Puzzles

The 6x6 calcudoku is the largest grid of this generator and the one that rewards method: thirty-six cells, the digits 1 to 6, and fourteen to seventeen cages per puzzle. The rows and columns add up to 21, the products grow quickly, and a cage like 240× or 96× narrows to a handful of digits at a glance.

Twelve puzzles in three sets of four: addition only, addition and subtraction, and all four operations. Each has a single solution that logic reaches without a guess, and the book gathers the twelve pages for printing in one go.

How to Solve a 6x6 Calcudoku

Begin with the extremes of each operation: a pair of 11+ is 5 and 6, of 5− is 1 and 6, of 6÷ is 1 and 6, of 30× is 5 and 6; a three-cell cage of 6+ in a line is 1, 2 and 3, of 15+ is 4, 5 and 6, and a 120× cage of three cells is 4, 5 and 6; a 240× cage of four cells almost always holds 2, 4, 5 and 6. Then use the rule of 21 on each row and column, and the factors of a product cage to list its candidates. Write small, cross out, and return to the cage with one option left.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a 6x6 calcudoku harder than a 5x5?

More cages, more candidates per cell, and products with more factorisations: 12× in three cells can be 1, 2 and 6, 1, 3 and 4, or 2, 2 and 3 around a corner. The method is the same; the bookkeeping is longer.

Is there a quick check at the end?

Yes: every row and every column must add up to 21 and contain each digit 1 to 6 once, and every cage must give its number with its operation. One wrong digit breaks at least two of these at once.
