How to Solve a 4x4 Calcudoku
Start with the cages that have one answer: a single cell is its number; among two-cell cages, 3+ is 1 and 2, 7+ is 3 and 4, 3− is 1 and 4, 12× is 3 and 4, and 2÷ is 1 and 2 or 2 and 4; a three-cell cage of 6+ in a line is 1, 2 and 3, and one of 9+ is 2, 3 and 4. Then use the rule of ten: a row or a column adds up to 10, so the cells of a row that are not covered by its cages add up to 10 minus the cage sums. Write candidates small, and cross out what each placed digit forbids in its row, its column and its cage.
