What is a Giraffe?
Giraffes are the tallest land animals in the world, with long necks that help them reach leaves high in the trees. They live in the savannahs and open woodlands of Africa. Giraffes have long legs, spotted coats for camouflage, and small horn-like structures on their heads called ossicones. They eat mostly leaves and twigs, especially from acacia trees. Giraffes live in herds and use their height to keep watch for predators like lions. Despite their size, they can run fast when needed and sleep very little, often standing up. In the wild, giraffes can live up to 25 years.
